Birthday money
I had some birthday money I was eager to spend and began thinking about what I wanted. Ulta has some good freebees you can get online and there’s an Urban Decay eyeshadow set I’ve been oggling over.
I looked at it online. Looked at it again an hour later. And an hour later. Until finally I added it to my shopping cart and began checking out.
I got all the way to the final step and could not get myself to push the “COMPLETE ORDER” button. I needed to look at it in person and test it out ONE more time. I have never spent $50 on eyeshadow before.
I drove all the way to Ulta (it’s in Olathe) and spent an hour in the store. I couldn’t make up my mind! Finally, I decided I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t spend $50 on eyeshadow.
Then I went to Whole Foods to grab some dinner. I found myself in the protein powder aisle and wanted to see what their price was for Vega protein powder. Alas, it was on sale!! For $46.
I was so excited and only contemplated in the aisle for 30 seconds before picking up the container and carrying it to the check-out counter, beaming.
After completing my Whole Foods purchased I laughed at myself. I can’t get myself to spend $50 on makeup but I have no remorse about spending $46 on protein powder.
Maybe this isn’t as funny to anyone else as it is to me … but I think it’s quite funny and it made me learn something about myself. They say you can tell a lot about a person by how they spend their money. I wonder what this says about me?
